Capital One Initiative Aims To Boost Small Business

[Friday, May 19th, 2017]

A new program from Capital One is designed to support, promote, and empower small businesses across the country by setting up cafés where customers can learn about emerging trends, talk about their challenges, and connect with ways to enhance their businesses through Capital One’s suite of credit products.

“Small businesses create 70% of new jobs nationally, and drive tremendous growth in our local economies as well – so when small businesses flourish, everyone wins,” said Celia Edwards Karam, Capital One’s head of small business banking.

We Work As One Aims To Connect Communities

The cafés are sponsored by Capital One Spark Business, and are part of a larger campaign called We Work As One. The will be located in five major cities across the United States: New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Denver, and Boston. The program kicks off in June and continues through October, travelling from city to city.

Events include Small Talk Thursdays, when larger, more established companies will lead discussions with local business owners and entrepreneurs, talking about challenges they’ve faced, and how they overcame them. The talks will be live-streamed so people around the globe can tune in.

The Pop-Up Experience will invite select small businesses to share their products and services with café visitors, exposing them to a wider audience and allowing them to promote their businesses. They will also host educational demos, in which business owners can share best practices and engage with their communities.

Capital One Spark Offers Perks For Small Businesses

Capital One’s Spark credit cards are just one of many products available to entrepreneurs and small business owners; they can also take advantage of online banking solutions, 401k programs, and Spark Pay, which allows them to accept payments from customers.

Spark cards offer cash back and travel rewards for small businesses. It also lets them generate spending reports, give company cards to employees, and purchase items with ongoing low interest rates as well as zero-interest promotions.

“We Work As One is a new way Capital One is recognizing what small businesses add to our communities and our economies, and partnering with local businesses to help them succeed and grow,” said Karam.
