Credit card companies have been in the spotlight over the last few months. While the onset of recession saw these lenders go into hibernation, they are now back with a bang with the economy showing signs of recovery. There are cards that offer various deals to customers today with each one targeting a specific segment. Today, there are cards that offer great deals to customers who would like to give back to the community and make a difference. Here are some of the cards that are helping people make a difference.

If you have a Capital One No Hassles Rewards cards(OFFER EXPIRED), then you can donate to any one of the 1.2 million charities approved by the bank. Each time you make a donation, the bank will provide you with a receipt for tax exemption. The bank also offers rewards points to customers who make donations. One of the other Capital One cards targets the education of little children. This credit card issuer has joined hands with Junior Achievement to fund the education costs of children.

Another credit card issuer playing a role in making a difference in the society is American Express. The Members Project is an initiative of American Express to help customers contribute to a charity of their choice and lighten the lives of others. This lender also has another initiative that focuses on proper distributions of available grants across various charities. Some of the recent recipients of these grants include the United Way of New York City, Singapore’s Asian Women’s Welfare Association and Chicago’s Feeding America.
